Background & Education

Diane E. Hunt received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 2009, with a major in history and a minor in economics. During her undergraduate years, she served as the President and Senior Editor of the Michigan Journal of History, co-founder and President of the university’s International Justice Mission student chapter, and a volunteer at the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

Ms. Hunt then returned to the University of Michigan Law School on a Dean’s Scholarship for academic achievement and leadership, graduating Cum Laude in 2012. She focused her legal education on immigration law and international human rights. During law school, Ms. Hunt worked at the University of Michigan Human Trafficking Clinic. This included filing T-visa, adjustment of status, naturalization and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status applications for victims and their family members. She also served as president of the Christian Legal Society.

After graduating from law school, Ms. Hunt completed a fellowship with the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC). This involved working with foreign-national victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, civil rights violations, and other crimes. Her work included cases involving U-visa, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Deferred Action Childhood Arrival (DACA) applications.

Since joining the firm in 2013, Ms. Hunt has represented clients in a wide range of U.S. immigration matters with a focus on family and individual matters such as fiancée visas, green card applications for spouses and other family members, naturalization, complex cases involving derived citizenship, and hardship waivers. Ms. Hunt also continues to be involved in humanitarian cases including U-visa, VAWA, and DACA. She has experience working with individuals facing removal, including those with criminal convictions. Ms. Hunt conducts I-9 compliance reviews and represents individuals and companies in obtaining both employment based permanent residency and employment-based nonimmigrant statuses such as L-1 status for intra-company transferees, E status for traders and investors, and H-1B status for temporary workers, among others.

Ms. Hunt speaks basic Spanish. Ms. Hunt is admitted to practice in Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
