Ms. Basmaji graduated from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University in 1986. She proceeded to clerk for the Honorable Joseph B. Sullivan of the Michigan Court of Appeals before entering private practice focusing on immigration matters.
She has extensive experience in corporate and business immigration issues. Ms. Basmaji has assisted clients with internal transfers from other countries as well as external hires. Her experience with complex immigration regulations has made her an invaluable resource for executives and HR professionals. She has assisted many clients seeking employment or family-based permanent residency status.
Ms. Basmaji has frequently represented clients at adjustment of status interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and at ports of entry on matters before the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency. This led her to serve as the Chairperson for both the U.S. Custom and Border Protection Liaison Committee and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Liaison Committee for the Michigan Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
