Mr. Yu received his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan’s College of Engineering in 2007.
Mr. Yu received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 2015. While there, his studies on focused on immigration and international law. He served as the president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA), and as a student attorney with the Wayne State Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic.
After finishing law school, he has since practiced in the field of immigration law, where he represented clients in business-based and family-based petitions before USCIS, the National Visa Center (NVC), and various consulates worldwide. He also worked on cases involving removal of conditions on permanent residence, work authorization, asylum applications, and currency seizures by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Mr. Yu is admitted to practice in Michigan and speaks conversational Korean.
Mr. Yu’s practice primarily focuses on corporate business immigration matters including H-1B Specialized Workers, L-1 Intra-Company Transferees, O-1 Extraordinary Aliens, Trade NAFTA/USMCA Professionals, and Business Visitors, as well as employment-based and family-based Adjustment of Status.
Mr. Yu has been with the firm since 2016.

During law school, he interned at the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) in Seoul, South Korea, where he assisted with the coordination of the Asia-Pacific Regional FDI moot competition in Seoul. He also interned at the Office of Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood, Michigan State Senate, where he researched current state legislative issues.
