Background & Education

Sam (Xinyuan) Li is originally from Mainland China, coming to the United States in 2012 to complete his undergraduate and post-graduate studies. He received his undergraduate degree in International Studies from the American University’s School of International Service in 2016 with summa cum laude honors. His undergraduate experience in the U.S. has been inspiring him to apply the unique point of view provided by his international background to the legal field; Sam’s diverse ideological perspective and cross-cultural communication abilities have been encouraging him to focus on helping individuals and businesses find solutions to their immigration needs. 

Sam received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School in 2019, focusing his studies on immigration law. As a student at GW Law, he was recognized as a Thurgood Marshall Scholar and the GW Law Silver Pro Bono Recognition. In Spring of 2019, Sam interned with Judge Erik P. Christian’s Chambers at Superior Court of Washington D.C. In the Summer and Fall of 2018, he worked as a student attorney with the GW Immigration Law Clinic, where he represented clients under supervision of licensed attorneys. In 2017, Sam interned with the Virginia Law Center for Immigration and Citizenship, where he gained family-based immigration experience. 

Sam primarily focuses on corporate business immigration matters including H-1B Specialized Workers, L-1 Intra-Company Transferees, O-1 Extraordinary Aliens, J-1 Trainees, Labor Certification/PERM, Mexican and Canadian TN Professionals, Q-1 Cultural Exchange Program Participants, as well as employment-based green cards, including but not limited to EB-1A Extraordinary Ability Aliens, EB-1B Outstanding Professors and Researchers, EB-1C Certain Multinational Managers or Executives, and EB-2 National Interest Waivers.

Sam is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He utilizes his international background, having resided in Mainland China through high school and subsequently coming to the United States to complete his post-secondary education, to his advantage in practicing law. His eastern ethnicity and western education background have been granting him a unique perspective on immigration matters, which he applies to his work on behalf of international citizen and U.S. corporations alike. As an international citizen himself, Sam is enthusiastic to help businesses in channeling human resources and individuals in achieving their American and international dreams.
